Thanks Carla

Our reunion was great, thank you Carla for planning it. I know I had to be dragged kicking and screaming to actually do it, but it was great when we got there. Carla, I would love to see your pics and Mechelle, you too, from the reunion. I had minimal ones.

Daddy Ray might be good to visit with, he put up with my little jokes and songs the last two days. I don't think he is eating though, so we are praying he lasts til you come. Love Mom--Melanie

Grandpa

OK, so apparently grandpa is in the hospital and isn't doing very well. He's having trouble breathing. That's about all I really know, I just thought I'd post this in case there are those of you who haven't heard yet. If you have more details, feel free to post. Lets all pray for him. Love to all!

We're Moving

I don't remember the address, but we are moving in about a week.
This is the model of the house that we are getting.

It's pretty exciting. The only downside to it is actually packing and moving our stuff.
Our current house we will be renting out to some people that John knows from work. They have an intent to buy, if their daughter likes the school. We are feeling quite blessed. We really wanted to find a house with room to grow, and a bigger yard, for less than we paid for this house. And we did!

Cliff and Lara's Carlsbad '08 trip

CLiff and Lara's family at the entrance to the Slaughter Canyon Cave after a hard, hot hike! White Sands was also amazing for those who have never gone. We visited Commandment rock near Las Lunas, NM which is supposed
to be a part of the Ten Commandments in modified Hebrew?

Cousins Marc might not know

This should be fun for Marc. Most of these people are your cousins. Maybe one or two is the date of or wife of or cousin of your cousin. But the for most part you're related.

Devin and Hank go to Prom

Devin Signs (Dianna's) and Hank Costner (Cliff's) went on a triple date to prom. They were all sunburned because they had to go to our Bill Slade Memorial Track Meet that day.

Uncle Tommy had some kind of knee surgery and then he was finally home with a walker no less and Aunt Babs went outside on her back porch to see what the dog was barking at and she was bit by a rattlesnake! Uncle Tommy then proceeded to kill it with his cane. They flew her to Phoenix and gave her anitvenom. That's all I know.

Reunioning

So I think that Early June is good for the reunion. It's been a long time since we all got together, everyone is all grown up, mostly. It was nice to see Kent's family at the Moody reunion, but I think all the Costner kids and grandkids need to get together. I don't know about you, but I miss my family.

So lets all work together to get together!

Keri said: I was able to submit nearly 600 names for baptism & endowment, nearly 500 sealing to parents, and 140 sealing to spouses.

Melanie,

I actually found it harder to do the Smith & Dobbins names, so that is interesting what you say about the DNA. I didn’t get any pictures off of Ancestry.com. Do I need to have a membership to get them?

The names are at the Albuquerque Temple in the Kirtland 5th Ward file. Anyone can ask for them (I think at the recorder’s office? I’m not sure how the Albuq. Temple works, exactly. I know it’s different than Provo.) You and all of the other family are more than welcome to do the names! My name will be on the cards. I have submitted a few other families from my husband’s side, so it is possible that the names come from his lines, though. As I was going through my research, I could tell that someone had done several periods of work on the Gililland line (some in the 70’s and some more recent, but I can’t remember the dates.) I’m guessing that was some of your work I saw.

I believe I’ve seen the Nielson names as the sources on many of the names that were listed on FamilySearch. I should probably contact them to see what they’ve done & what they can offer.

http://moodystories.blogspot.com/

http://costnerchronicles.blogspot.com/

http://snydertales.blogspot.com/ --Dad is working on this one

you are all invited to these sites too
Periwinkle, Myrtle, Vinca minor--all names of the same--these are evergreen, they were across the front of the house and on the other side of the door where the dog sat on them.
periwinkle is a perennial, evergreen herb in the dogbane family (Apocynaceae) that was originally native to the island of Madagascar. It has been widely cultivated for hundreds of years and can now be found growing wild in most warm regions of the world, including the Southern U.S. The plants grow one or two feet high, have glossy, dark green leaves (1-2 inches long) and flowers all summer long. The blooms of the natural wild plants are a pale pink with a purple "eye" in their centers, but horticulturists have developed varieties with colors ranging from white to hot pink to purple.
Both the Phlox and the Bouncing Bets had to be broken down to the ground in the early spring, so the new growth could start again. I have descendants of the Phlox in my yard against the fence.
ps Carla needs to know if you have a preference of time for the reunion in June? Love Melanie
